  • So, are we lining up our clubface to where we want the momentum to go?

  • Have a look at the "golf pro lesson perpetual motion drill" and then simply aim the direction of the swing's momentum to the area you want the ball to end up;

  • Hi Shawn,

    Quick observation and question.

    Before using the tip in this video I positioned my ball in whatever way the textbook said (forward or middle stance). Most of my shots were pushes or slices.

    After watching this tip, I positioned the ball in a spot that I can swat it with momentum toward a target.

    Though my alignment feels a bit weird now, my shots are a noticeably straighter and farther. Any comments?

  • Sounds fine to me!

    Have a look at my "golf pro lesson tilted spiral" part 3 and you will recognize more options depending on the desired flight such as draw or fade; Shawn

  • What kind of intermediate targets do you take? Anything, or do you take differently colored pieces of grass, twigs, what are your primary choices?

  • Whatever is in front of the ball that is easily recognizable; all the things you listed too! :)

  • #2 is that I have to be very careful when picking my target. If it is even a couple inches off, the further the ball flies, the more magnified that two inces become and it may be 20 feet off, and that is with a perfect swing. Add any imperfections, (which I do often, and it may end up in the woods.

  • Something that I have found which I find interesting.

    #1 is that once I pick my intermediate target, which I find very important for alingment, if I dont want to, I can hit the ball without ever looking at the target again and it goes where I want it too.

  • Wow, I have always had a hard time with alignment. I played Yesterday and used this tip. I just imagined where the momentum was going and I hit so many great shots. This works so much better than looking down at your feet. If momentum is going towards your target you will be square. Best teacher hands down.

  • No, you put your legs where you want the momentum to go. At least, that's how it works with the flop shot etc.
