I don't think you need to work your way up to 4 laps. Just go and walk up and down the trail 4 times in a row. There's no time limit. You could probably go and jog a marathon without training specifically for it. You have the basic conditioning already. My conditioning came from boxing workouts.

I did this two times in a row the first time I tried it. I've done about 5 sessions of four laps (no water). The knees and ankles start to wobble after the third time.

I'm flat footed. When I was in the Army I had a horrible run time. But I could climb a mountain faster than anyone. The reason is, because flat footed people tend to gain Power in their walk, and lack stamina. Myself on the other than, I was in excellent shape, so I kept the peak of both when combined. I don't live there, but I'm glad to see you out there challenging people. I doubt you will be beat with a determination like that. Good luck in your endevours.
