  • do you use potassium thiocyanate in fluid or in crystals and do the mercury nitrate need to be clean without any traeses of nitric acid?

  • @MrOrienterare I make the thiocyanate crystals into liquid, and nitric acid should be cleaned out well

  • @Basco36 thanks! is it possible that the wast product can be Hg(cn)2 which is really toxic?

I tried to do Hg(SCN)2 but my mercury nitrate wasn`t that well cleand out and now I have two powders one yellow and one white do you have any clue what it is?

  • @MrOrienterare both solutions should be made concentrated for the precipitation to work well.

  • Then what do you do with all the mercury waste?

  • @Grundalizer nothing yet
