This tutorial is a great tutorial. however you make too many assumptions that the users know photoshop. beginners like me find it hard to follow. all the keyboard shortcuts. why does the black on the ring layer not show?

btw, I couldn't create the spirals using liquify. so thats where I got stuck

@greenkodex Sorry, I get all crazy when I'm Photoshopin. So on you black layer with the ring, you switch the blending mode to "screen". This will get rid off/ ignore all the black on that layer, which will leave the white ring,

As for the liquify.. all you should need to do is merge all the blurred ring layers into one layer, then go to liquify. I was apparently using the wave brush in liquify, but the forward warp tool should work fine too. Just hold down the mouse button and drag away.

Great tutorial, but I have one major complaint.

Photoshop is cross platform and you're quickly using keyboard shortcuts for Mac. It wouldn't take any longer to use actual name and menu links so Windows users could follow this more easily.
