A great piece of psych from Ace Kefford and Lemon Tree. Issued in March 1968, but never made any impact on the charts. Typical chunk of hazy-phasey music of that great era, and one that is hard to find these days. Put on the kaftan and melt away.
For some reason the following one-line comment made at the time (in either "Disc" or "Rave" - can't remember which) has stuck in my head: "Lemon Tree will never have a hit if their next record isn't better than William Chalker's Time Machine".
Were they implying WCTM was brilliant and would be impossible to top? Or that it was crap and LT needed to get their fingers out? Never could work out which it was!! In either event, LT sank without trace not long after ....
So you want stuff like this, lost and utterly charming gems such as this on ordinary radio? I'm afraid we're not likely to be so blessed. Here in the States I don't see it happening- and from what I know of the UK, it's not likely. It's a great thing we have online and digital.
I wonder other founding members of the Move didn´t have their own compositions in that group. So it was the start of the domination of Roy Wood. I don´t mean it´s a bad thing. Roy´s songs were great !
brill caroline track...when will we have a radio station that plays music like this...big l do...but not on ordinary radio...only online and digital..

Haven't heard this since about March 1968. Don't think it got much airplay. It's very much of its time.
