Have you ever noticed this ??? It seems to be quite a well kept secret of Google Chrome browser tabs. Its like if you want your tabs just iconized then you just drag a bit from its icon to Left, it will reduce the size of tab and make it to display just an icon only. If you again drag it a bit from its icon to right, it will restore its size again.
EDIT : ok, here is the update of the query many of you asked. I referred this video to REDDIT, as per the comments there "It is called PINNING the tab, and in order to iconize other tabs you have to first pin first tab. Right click on the first tab, select pin tab, after that you will be able to drag & iconize other tabs.". As a sidenote, I just upgraded to newer beta, and this iconizing by dragging stopped working, though pinning the tab still works.
@vargulf19 Yeah. It's back in chrome 9 too. I miss phantom tabs.

@tonynn11 Well in 7.0.517.41 you just have to right click > Pin tab

this feature is removed in newer versions. I'm in chromium 6.0.467.0 (52389)
there are new features in the dev trunk builds though so they didn't take it all away.
