I always think that the military prowess of the Japanese was overrated. Japan became a military power in Asia only when they adopted Western technologies in the late 19th century. Before that time Japan was an isolated agricultural society.

Japan was able to withstand mongol invasions because of their isolated geographical location surrounded by seas. If Japan was connected to the Asian mainland then I'm sure that Mongols would able to conquer Japan.

@TheXanian the Japanese have a lot of pride and do a good job of embellishing their history. So i guess thats true. And if it wasn't for the seastorms that took out the mongol ships, im sure japan would look very different today. lol
