This clandestine documentary, shot partially on an iPhone and smuggled into France in a cake for a last-minute submission to Cannes, depicts the day-to-day life of acclaimed director Jafar Panahi (Offside, The Circle) during his house arrest in his Tehran apartment. While appealing his sentence - six years in prison and a 20 year ban from filmmaking - Panahi is seen talking to his family and lawyer on the phone, discussing his plight with Mirtahmasb and reflecting on the meaning of the art of filmmaking.

@TheEchoMonkey Oh, of course, don't get me wrong - I can make a difference between the Government and the People. We have a pretty shitty government here, too. But, even if America did bomb the shit out of my country some 10 years ago, I have absolutely no quarell with any American - only with your President and military generals. It's not Average Joe's fault that the people in charge of the country are assholes - because they don't really care what Average Joe thinks or wants.

@Elzoony True. But, we don't care about half the world now. We just focus on Iran so that the government can make a reason to go to war with Iran. The politicians claim we are going to war for freedom. What I don't get is why did they take 30-40 years to decide to turn against the very dictators in the middle east that they have supported so far. It just feels like backstabbing to me.
