  • I'm so glad he hasn't lost his accent. It's gorgeous!

  • So true. It's such a pity for us to loose this shy and warm hearted soul. His books were full of modesty, philanthropy and a good sense of humor. He should always reminds us to look behind the surface and recognize the human factor. We have to be grateful for what we've got. Frank McCourt, Thank you so much for every word. We will miss you very much but also keep you alive in our memories and think of you smiling!

  • when did frank pass away? jesus i didnt know this though i heard he was ill.i love angela's ashes

  • Gallant was a teacher about 6 feet tall, 190 lbs who like to beat on kids. Far as I know, the prick got away with it. Catholic school system. Hate it with a passion. My brother, a doctor, lives there and two years ago, said he treated Gallant. In time...

  • Gonna find him when I go back and give him a taste of his own medicine.

  • Didn't know he died. Sorry to hear. He was a better man than those bully teachers that beat him and his classmates. I know. I was whipped by nuns in low school, and in grade 7, knocked unconscious while in my desk by Gerald Gallant, the fucker coward. Blood running down my face. Saw Gallant pick one boy up and literally throw him over a desk onto the hard floor. The thud was sickening to hear. I swore I would never be like those bastards and cunts. Never laid a hand on a child in my life.

  • when he dies?

    :(

  • I am sick...heartbroken. In reading all your books, you became my friend. It was exciting to watch you go from a boy w/ eyes like "pissholes in the snow" , to the brilliant, successful author you became. Goodbye Frankie!

  • I never liked to read books until I picked up Angela's Ashes a couple years ago and it helped me through a hard time. I hadn't finished it until recently when I decided to read it all over from start to finish and shortly after I started, I was in the book store buying his book 'Tis when I found out he passed away. I would have loved to have met him but I'm thankful I got to know him through his writing. Thank you Frank for making me love reading and you. RIP
