A demosound from SK15. No external FX, ensemble effect is switched on after the first tones and the internal filter is sounding like some kind of phaser. (Not the best recording, it was made quick just to demo the string sound)

  • Wonderful! How did you get that phasing effect from the polysynth filter?

  • Hello myrmur. :-) The phasing effect was made with much resonance and slow envelope. The polysynth filter in SK15 is sounding kind of soft and I think it´s the settings of the seven sliders to the right...

  • Sounds nice! i saw one today in a secondhand shop for €30 ($44). Is this like the main sound of it? or does it also have a grand piano sound or something?

  • :-) Hello FF. This is my favourite sound of SK15, it has organ, string and polysynth sounds that can be used together but no pianosound. My personal opinion is that the organsounds are cheap, the stringsound is OK and the polysynth a bit weak. I like to maximize the stringsound, use a bit of the polysynth filter and a little bit organ. The thing I like most is the onboard chorus, it´s the reason why I bought it.

  • Cool! I saw one of those things for sale today on eBay. Already $187 with one day still left to go.

  • Thanx for comment. I did find this one cheap on a Swedish website were it was called "old keyboard". If you call it "vintage stringmachine" maybe it will be more expensive?

  • This is a pretty good string machine. I have also Sk-15. It is small, not too heavy and looks very nice. The sound is pretty good also, Sophisticated, basic warm and theres nothing "cheesy" about it because its not one of those low budget string synths. After all, its still YAMAHA. Its not a "classic" but it is still pretty good string synth and one of the last string synths ever made 1981-1982. Phaser effect is the thing that makes this one a pretty good string synth.

  • this sounds amazing

  • This was 8 months ago lol.. But i did buy it! :D

  • GO GET IT NOW!!!!

  • The sliders look like theyre off a minikorg 700s. I had one 30 years ago.

  • I'd buy one of these....
