Brentwood Oaks is committed to the young and to the old. Brentwood church is dedicated to teaching its children and youth to love God the Father with their whole heart. The church attempts to care for children with special needs and to support foster care work. Brentwood also oversees the Village Christian Apartments, a living complex for those desiring to live independently.

Brentwood Oaks believes that growth in Christ can only come with knowledge, understanding, gratitude and obedience to God the Father. The church is committed to the Bible being the curriculum in Sunday School, to children memorizing and learning the stories of God's way in His creation and with His people in scripture. In its assembly, Brentwood believes praying and giving are as important in worship as singing and preaching. The church understands worship to be a sacrifice, that adoration of the Father can be not only joyful but sobering. that praise begins with walking with the righteous and seeking first God's kingdom and rule (Psalms 1/2).

Brentwood Oaks dedicates one-third of its contributions to the preaching of the gospel. In its history the church has focused much prayer and resources to Guatemala, to Russia and most recently to Zambia. Members of Brentwood church are encouraged and supported in mission trips each year. Locally, Brentwood has partnered with a Spanish speaking congregation and seeks to reach other language groups in Austin. The church oversees the Russian Bible School, the largest correspondence school in Russia and partners with other schools and teachers training ministers in Zambia, in Russia, in Ghana, and other places. In Austin, Brentwood Christian School (K-12) is a ministry of the church and is located on its site (as is Developmental Preschool). In addition, Brentwood church is involved with the Austin Graduate School of Theology.
