An Egret Landing

"We purchased a video security system in late January 2009 because a pond in our front yard had been vandalized twice. I enjoy having the system because when the alert window pops up, I immediately look to see whos coming to or from our front door and it was the alert window that showed me the visit, just a few minutes ago, of an Egret, coming in for a landing. Now, in some parts of Southern California, an Egret wouldnt be unusual. But we live in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, at least 50 miles from the open ocean. We have never seen any sort of ocean water fowl up here, not even gulls."
