  • The record was made 5/22/29 with Leo McConville, trumpet; Arthur Schutt, piano; Joe Tarto, bass; Stan King, drums. On the first tune, Bugle Call Rag, Tommy Dorsey plays the first half on trombone, then switches to trumpet about mid way.

  • Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey were a great combination. They were one of my favorite groups of the 1930's.

  • 2nd title is 'Freeze an' melt' - but who are the other guys in the band? And when was it recorded?

  • The lp you have pictured is Parlophone #7133. The 1st recording is Bugle Call Rag by Ed Lang and His Orchestra.

  • thanks much for posting. Vintage Jazz is the best in my opinon

  • why isn't anyone playing music like this now! This is the best.

  • Corrie 121

    Great. Just Great!

    Thanks for posting.

  • These small combos are the real deal.

    The big bands saccharin-ized everything.

    Cookin'!
