I have done these and they can be a PITA especially if you are alone, or it's a hot day. Be sure to shim the opening so it is square before nailing. And when you cut the final length at the floor, measure twice, cause there is no way to fix it if you cut it too short. Lastly, I suggest you get one made out of aluminum, not much more expensive and they come with adjustable feet that bolt on to the proper length.

That's pull down ladder, NOT stairs and looks like flimsy junk!

2009 IECC Section 402.2.3 and 2009 IRC Section N1102.2.3 reads: "Access hatches and doors. Access doors from conditioned spaces to unconditioned spaces (e.g., attics and crawl spaces) shall be weatherstripped and insulated to a level equivalent to the insulation on the surrounding surfaces."
R-30+ is required! Battic Door makes an R-50 Kit to insulate attic stairs that meets all Code requirements.

This poor bastard is like me. Has to do every damn thing by himself! I installed my own Werner Attic ladder and it was pretty easy. And they make a good product, and support it very well if you have an issue.

@egwrickryder Reletivly simple, you take the pre assembled fixture and put it through the opening, then carefully open the stairs exposing the the inner rim that once aligned properly, can be nailed into the studs. Job done ^_^.
this told me absolutely nothing.
