Update 3-12-08

Hi Everyone!

As many of you already know Suzanne received some good news on Wednesday 3/5/08 in that she is now in remission after the 1st month long chemotherapy treatment. But being in remission is only half the battle and a mixed blessing in disguise. The other half is finding a bone marrow donor match, and there in lies the next hurdle. On Monday 3/10/8, Suzanne now in her second round of chemo, was informed that because of complications, donor matching may become so difficult that umbilical stem cells are being considered for transplant.

DIRE does not seem to describe or do justice to her situation. I'd like to plead to our friends and the community everywhere, to help us as we now have TWO follow up dates for a Blood Drive and Marrow testing. The dates are Thursday, March 20th and Saturday, April 12th in San Diego [The media will cover this event], to find her find a marrow match - AGAIN! MIND YOU, THIS COULD SAVE HER LIFE!! Details of each drive to follow this update).

We all wish it could be simple, yet most people don't know some of the important facts about Bone Marrow donation: 1) blood type is irrelevant; 2) heritage and country of origin are examples of important factors; 3) siblings and relatives tend not to be matches, to name but a few. This is why we are trying to get the information about this need out to the public and why we think you all of Suzanne's friends are in a position to help her.

Suzanne goes home TODAY after a Five day stay in the hospital of receiving her second chemo treatment. She will be coming back in on Friday's and Tuesday's for further testing while the search for a marrow match continues.

Thank you all for your support and please know how much it means to Suzanne what each of you has done and is doing to help her survive this.

~Andrea~

Original Post:

Our friend Suzanne has fought Cancer and Beat it, then started a store to help female cancer patients feel better about themselves both emotionally and physically and now faces her next challenge. "This week she was diagnosed with Leukemia and now faces the toughest battle of her life!"

Since Suzanne poured her heart, soul and personal resources into helping others, she now faces her battle with limited financial resources.

Some of her close friends here in San Diego have mounted a campaign to raise money to help her cover her monthly expenses including going towards treatments. This group currently consists of 10 highly driven and creative individuals who have banded together to mount a united front to help raise funds. The goal is to take all the stress and pressure off her financially so she can concentrate on making herself well! She also will continue to operate her store, "now located at home and her website.

Even during what she's about to go through she still amazes up in her desire to help others.
