It seems that nearly every media outlet is ignoring the issue of Joe Glenton being jailed by the Minister of Defence on Armistice day. WIth 73% of the UK population wanting the Troops home
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_public_opinion_on_the_war_in_Afgha...

So why cant Gordon Brown and the Tories Bring The Troops Home? What happened to Democracy in this country? The people have spoken why not put the War to a Commons vote? The Politicians are ignoring democracy and all of them lack any ability to run and organise themselves out of a wet paper bag let alone wage a war. Joe Glenton is only saying what everone else knows to be the truth! The Military are speaking out left right and centre for this already lost war why Jail a Great man for speaking the truth about it.

  • Just one more comment, sorry. Just read in another web article that Joe's defence claim he's suffering from Post Traumatic Stress. Ridiculous that he's not on bail and being held in army detention if that's the case.

Also, he joined up in 2004. We'd began the illegal Iraq war a year before.

Too late now but that alone should have made him decide not to join up?

  • Ever noticed the more Britain bangs the war drum the more unemployment rises? An army major said people join to escape the hum drum of office jobs the reality is the dissapearing options for people in this country. Just like the USA who earn their wealth through their imperialism which is all overseas.

  • This war is wrong as was the Iraq War.

However, I'm at a loss to understand why Joe joined up in the first place. He surely knew that by becoming a soldier he wouldn't have any say in where he'd be sent and what war his country would get involved in.

He deserted, and like it or not, that is a crime under the law.

Becoming a soldier is wrong unless you have a desire to kill, and sometimes you might have to kill innocent people.

Best thing to do is don't join up in the first place.

  • Soldiers have a right to demand that they are only sent for the right reasons and under due process of democratic law. Joe has spoken out and has been targeted for this. Many many other UK soldiers have deserted and as they have kept quiet they have not been targeted and simply given dischargesform the services. Joe is not a pacifist. He stated clearly he is from the profession of arms. He is fighting the Governemnt for sending his fellow soldiers to the war on false pretenses.

  • @theblackmafia71 No, far from it, I'm very much anti war. Some wars can't be avoided. WWII was one. Recent wars are based on profit. Invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, followed by Libya under the con that we're doing it for the people. We're doing it because we follow the US into any excuse they come up with to invade and take over foreign countries. I have great respect for the men who are sent to fight but not always the cause they fight for. Only my opinion.

  • @nacho1560 So you must be an expert on soldiering and being a soldier ...so caome on educate me ...

  • @nacho1560 well he has reliased his mistakes, which takes great courage!

  • it's a pity that LCpl Glenton didn't find his moral principles after his tour in Kandahar air base. Instead he waited a year and another posting to a unit that would go back before he declared his conscientious objection. He then went AWOL instead of giving his notice to terminate employment with the army. After 2 years AWOL in Australia he then returned as a conscientious objector and 'hero'. Retrospective justification much?

  • @fourmanfilms mark my words they'll be introducing national service next

forcing pople to join the army the moment they turn 18 just so the greedy warmongers can get their silmy hands on Ahghanistans oil supply

they dont care about the people, they care about themselves

  • Gordon Brown, refusing to withdraw the troops from this illegal war, status running in the elections

Joe Glenton, realising the war is illegal, refused to return to it

status 9 months in military service

    IS THIS DEMOCRACY?

    FREE GLENTON JAIL THE WARMONGERS!

  • 9/11 and 7/7 were inside jobs - iraq and afghan wars are wars for profit, power and control
