@steute2011 considering the operation (lavon affari) was never carried out...no, nobody was hurt or killed. But the plot could have been a reaction to the state ordered mass arrests, murder, and torture of egyptian jews during 1947-1950. And just so you know, the king david hotel was the central base of operations of the british military and intelligence in 1947, there were far more government officials than civilians in the hotel wich was also not a public building. Not that i condone the act.

@Isrealit360 I asserted that it was the first of it's kind, i.e. bombing a public building, occupied by civilians. There were atrocities committed on both sides from the very beginning. BTW, The claim that there was a call made by Irgun to warn of the impending bomb attack, this has been categorically denied by chief secretary Sir John Shaw. I would be interested to know if the Israelis warned the people in the terrorist attacks in Egypt (Lavon Affair)?

@steute2011 I had almost forgotten my favorite part of the king david bombing that im sure you are un aware of. Further to your point about it being "first of its kind", the Irgun who did the bombing actually called the hotel and its so-rounding buildings to warn that the bomb would go off in a few minutes. Much like in the war in gaza in 2009 the IDF called 15 minutes in advance of every air strike to warn civilians in the targeted house or building. you will not see that honor from the arabs.
-
@steute2011 In fact you maybe very well be right in that it was the first "hotel bombing" in British mandate Palestine. That does not make it the first terror attack by any means (unfortunatly). You would do well to read up on the "arab revolt" of 1936-1939 during witch at least 500 jewish civilians were murdered by snipers, night time raids, and bombings of schools and trains. Or the Hebron massacre of 1929 where 67 jews were killed in one day. the mid-east conflict didnt start in 1947!
-
@Isrealit360 It was certainly the first of it's kind in Mandate Palestine. If you can reference a prior terrorist act, I will be more than happy to correct myself. As for those 'large" bombs being necessary, I guess when you consider that in the the end 3/4 of the dead were civilians, which included 400 children...it was all worth it?
-
@steute2011 Do you really not know these things or are you deliberately ignoring them?
-
@steute2011 Do u truly believe that the king david bombing was the first act of terrorism in the middle east? Or the first time a hotel was bombed in Israel/Palestine for that matter? And thoes bombs need to be that large to blow up the rockets, morters, small arms munitions that Hamas and Hezbollah store and shoot from those densely populated areas. The difference between israel and Iran is that Iran arms dozens of terror groups and calls for the destruction of a UN member state, Israel doesn't

@steute2011 Israel has it's history of being quite reckless and actually introduced the Arabs to the idea of terrorism as a means to a political end, i.e. The bombing of the King David Hotel in 1947, which killed 91 and wounded 46. Dropping 1-5 ton bombs on densely populated cities and using white phosphorus on civilian populated areas. So is Israel really any better than anyone else when it comes "the history".
Well since you're superior in intelligence, why don't you try countering what he said then? I hear crickets...
No problem with the Ghandi quote though, huh?
Try and keep it objective, tough guy...
The "jewish state" is the farthest thing from a democracy and wouldn't exist without my US tax dollars and military equipment!
Fend for your self, Israel! Let's see how you do. Europe won't be bailing you out that's for sure!!
