Shiatsu is a traditional natural healing therapy developed in Japan, where it has been used for centuries to promote health and alleviate sickness. Its roots lie in Traditional Oriental Medicine, originating in China some 5,000 years ago with the development of acupuncture.
Literally translated, Shiatsu, often referred to as acupressure, means finger pressure. The practitioner applies pressure with his/her palms and thumbs to certain areas of the body or specific acupressure/acupuncture points (tsubos) to bring health and harmony to the body.
