  • Do you have problems with tuning ? when bend , or use the whammy bar ? i have serious problems with tuning on my Highway one !

  • If you bought it used, someone may have added a spring to the trem but it shouldn't have trouble staying in tune. If you bought it from a store, I'd suggest taking it to them with your concerns. No guitar should give you trouble with tuning, bending and using the whammy.

  • @stratdem The VALUE of my guitars is not what they're worth in the re-sale market. Their value/worth comes into play when I take them out to a club and play and the things STAY IN TUNE and don't embarrass me.

The collection of Highways that I have will (barring any really unusual EMERGENCY situations) stay with me 'tl either they break or I die. I didn't buy them for an 'investment'; they are living, breathing, working TOOLS and must perform as such.

I now have them set up that way.

  • @rich655 sorry to here that. i have had no problems with the

fender pings. and i shure as hell wont change them that will

knock the value down on the guitar. the 2007 highway one strats

are selling today between $1,200 to $1,300 and in a nother 4 years

i'm shure they will go up another $300 to $400.

  • @stratdem The gear ratio is irrelevant. What DOES hold water is the tunner's (tuner's...actually) ability to keep a string in tune!

The Ping's couldn't hold my strings in tune! I use .010-.052's and bend a lot when I play. I was constantly knocking the Pings out of tune. The Fender/Schaller locking tuner is FAR superior to the Pings and a more logical choice.

As far as the re-sale value.....I DON'T care....I'm NOT selling ANY of mine any time soon!

  • i would most certainly prefer the 16 to 1 ratio fender ping tunners

over the fender vintage tunners and others. and dont forget once

you alter the guitar in any way you have reduced the value in the future.

  • @rich655 the ping tunners are not crappy my friend the fender pings

that are on the highway one sss strat are a 16 to 1 gear ratio that not

realy going to get any better than that.

  • @alldini I own 8 Highway One Strat HSS's and I've replaced ALL the crappy stock Ping tuners with Fender/Schaller locking tuners. (they drop right in!!) Problem solved!!!

  • NItro HWY-1s are killer, great platform to build a Strat, hell they are very usable stock.

  • @rasticles The Nitro sounds so much better. I didn't believe it at first either.

Now I just wish my PRS CU22 was nitro. :-(

  • beutiful body finish in nitro
