I also wonder why the levee gave way, because three months after Katrina the National Hurricane Center said wind gusts over New Orleans were between Category 1-2, NOT 4-5.
The National Hurricane Center also reduced Katrina's strength when it hit land from Category 4 to Category 3.
Obviously the levee system was bombed as ear witnesses said who lived near where the levee breached.
Google the CNN article title: Katrina was Category 3, not 4
