Ram mount (bar mount) is definitely the route to go, after seeing how good it works on the bike i got one for the car.

ermmm not to burst ur tech bubble. but they have a ciggrette socket that hooks right to ur battery on ebay.
involves no modding and costs a few £ and u can power other 12v things via it

Not at all! You pointed out that there is more than one way to accomplish this task and have given viewers another valid option.
Some folks are the type to make things happen from what's laying around the house and others folks don't want to bother with that and rather buy something that's ready to rock-n-roll and spend their time on other things they enjoy.
