The Sidekicks started off as a young New Jersey combo called The Redcoats; their name change came about when they signed with RCA Victor Records. The Sidekicks' first single, "Suspicions," was a minor hit, reaching #55 in Billboard's Hot 100. They also released a lone album for RCA, and here are its best songs:

1) "Not Now"
2) "Ask Your Friend"
3) "He's My Friend"
4) "Suspicions"

For a detailed history of the group, check out Zach Bocelle's article "The Redcoats Are Coming" at 60sgaragebands.com.

  • I think these guys were from Port Republic, NJ? I went to Pleasantvile ,HS, from 1066-70, The Red Coats played in the school auditorium, & I heard that they were going to tour with Hermin's Hermit's. ...Randy Boecelle? I used to go to the Rum Point Pub in Brigantine around '73 & they were Monarch?

  • I have the single for "not now" and it blows the house away with that guitar solo. A real gem! It's one of only 4 songs on the LP written by the original band (jon Spirt)

  • @numpty1972 - Gee, that sucks, YouTube should be less heavy-handed about the videos and get on some of these posters who are really nasty. I'm convinced that when Yahoo shut down their comment boards, all the nasty people came over to YouTube.

  • I've been looking all over for "Suspicions" for years!

  • Great posts and I'm completely in awe of the collection- makes me
