http://www.streamingwell.com/causes-of-obesity-in-britain-video.html - What are the reasons behind obesity in the UK? Are you questioning why you may be overweight?

This short video, with obesity specialist Dr. Matthew Capethorn explores some of the reasons behind the growth of obesity in the UK and discusses larger portion sizes, processed foods, genetics, behaviour and also thyroid problems such as hypothyroidism as possible factors.

The film explains how these factors cause obesity and specifically highlights the myth of genetic obesity, the problems with processed foods such as fast food and focuses on how hyperthyroidism can lead to weight problems. It also encourages viewers that being overweight can lead to other health problems and that to lose weight a commitment must be made by the individual.

  • i blame soccer..

  • @S3TO1234 If it were just sugar sweetening the drinks, there would not be so many problems. Trouble is there are so few corporate soft drinks that are sweetened not only by sugar but by Christ knows what. I don't drink anything sweetened by aspartame. Not for health reasons, but because it tastes like shit. I don't know how Monsanto manage to sell that stuff as a "sweetener." Maybe it's to get you to have another can to take away the sensation of millipedes crawling around one's mouth.

  • @tigranvartanovitch Lol ok then you would understand there is more than just the calories in soda that are of concerns. Sorry but it's just that kind of attitude that gets people obese in the first place. I should know i was there. Was 302 5 years ago and i use to dink alotttttttt of soda. No offense but probally much more thatn you drink

  • "Have you done any research on soda?" Yes.

  • @tigranvartanovitch Have you done any research on soda? and i believe its more like Healthy not a famine victim :/ lol

  • "A high calorie sugary drink..." A spoonful of sugar contains only 14 Kcal. I am fed up of these patronising thin slobs preaching their disgusting lifestyles, telling us that we should put down our cream cakes and start looking like famine victims.
