I so so desperately wanted him to stay home with his wife and family. It saddened me that this character was so weathered from experience he couldn't think to go back and re-invent his life. So sad.

I love the way Nicholson tempers his emotions. Its brilliant really, you have these incredibly moving, sentimental, emotional scenes and its so overwhelming that he cannot fully allow himself to feel or emote it all so the character's reaction is controlled, diffused.
