@willsing4label it's not all about the explicity and gore. Sometimes not showing things can be much more effective as it's left more to the viewer's imagination. I personally think the portrayal of the shooting in this film was perfect. :)

@Windurin the idea that marc lepine was a woman hater was a feminist propaganda tool to make politicians take their side. there is evidence it wasn't planned. in fact as soon as he shot them, he went to the projector and wrote "SHIT!" twice. he was also mad at mary baly who only a few years before the shooting wanted a policy that women were superior to men in society and wanted a female utopia where only 10% of the world were males. even his suicide letter said he only hated feminists.
-
@Windurin then only 2 weeks before the shooting, his ex-girlfriend, aborted his 4 month old baby against his will, but she got the law on her side because a few months earlier some law made it that men have no say if a woman chooses to abort a baby. that afternoon, he was going to snipe the politician but her speech got canceled. then he went to the engineering school and was telling women to become anti-feminists though few were feminists, the argument got out of hand and he killed 6 instantly.

@Windurin also columbine was not a mere shooting, it was intended to be a timothy mcveigh plot. also some psychiatrists are still wondering if this was a pre-planned shooting or just them losing touch with reality. the polytechnique shooter marc lepine only intended to kill some feminist politician who made this anti racist policy that made it women got more scholarships, so some women in his school with lower grades were getting his engineering scholarships simply for being a female.
We are currently in pre-production for a feature-length version, which drops the Columbine references. Instead, it's about the first ever British school shooting, but on the scale of Columbine, using the same boy and girl. The working title is 'Never' (because such a shooting has NEVER happened in Britain...)

@Windurin dunblane massacre? that killed more than columbine did and it was even before columbine. columbine doesn't even come close to the worst school shooting, even for its time. canada had the polytechnic shooting where someone managed to kill 14 people before killing himself. then there is the bath school massacre, the cologne massacre and the university of austin shootings. though only dunblane was in the british isles, my point is that i wonder why columbine is talked of more.

Hi, I am aware of most of the school shootings you mentioned, especially of course the Dunblane massacre. However, you're absolutely right when you say that Columbine is talked about more. Even today, when there have been even worse shootings, everyone always thinks of Columbine first when they hear of a school shooting. I don't know why that is either, it's just ingrained in our culture now.

@Windurin my guess can only be that maybe unlike 99.9% of school shooters who do this alone, in columbine there was 2 of them.

Hi, that's a good point, it's usually a lone gunman. When it's one person it's easy to label them as 'psychopathic', 'mentally damaged', they did it of their own accord, etc, they made their own choice.
When there's 2 of them involved, I think people flirt with the question: 'Who pushed who?'

Also, the reason I think Dunblane is different to what we want to portray is that it was an older man killing young children, there hasn't really been a large scale British school shooting where it's kids killing kids. That's the thing that haunts me, and it would be different I think because gun control is very different in the UK, knife crime is a lot more common.
