  • Hey, you know what, you're wrong. You basically say that if you aren't poor- you should drive. Thats a failed mentality that has fueled America's car culture for the past 50 years and led to the degredation of America's public transit infastructure. Just because its public doesn't make it "for those other people" - Public transport, and the infastructure around it, is infastructure that can save us from driving, take cars off roads, speed up commute times, and has many economic benefits.

  • I fly into Atlanta in the morning. Catch the train to Buckhead/Peachtree. Walk two blocks to the office. Have everything I need within a 10 minute walk. Marta makes Atlanta one of the few cities in North America where I don't need a car, and that means a lot to me!

  • I'm from Mexico City, and everytime I go to Atlanta, I just take Marta from airport to Chamblee. Walk 10 minutes, and I'm in my friend's house. If they go to pick me up at the aiport, they will make 1 hour from Chamblee to airport, and 1 hour back. That means 2 hours VS. 30 minutes.

  • I remember when I used to use the gold tokens instead of a card.

  • @slamnxgirlxjulie No, it's not. It's just increasing the fares. I think it's $2.00 for one trip.

  • is marta really going away because of budget cuts??? cuz i'm planning on taking it next summer to go to ga state univserity. If it's not then can someone tell me how to use it? i'v only seen it in the movies where people put coins in the machine, or do theey use tickets now?? how does it all work?

  • @Trainzcool I drive, but if I lived in downtown Atlanta then I would more then likely do the marta.

  • @ktaristocrat Yes, I finally agree and what you've mentioned that my frustration with Marta as well

  • This video makes 2002 look like 1985... So ancient lol!

  • @ktaristocrat you also have to look into the cause of the budget problems. Your state as well as neighboring counties who's residents use the system don't want to pay for it. The original planned Expansion projects to hapevile, the atlantic station, and emory university have never became final with Marta's board of directors. But in the near future (not specified when) they may be LRTs or BRTs.
