Rather ignorant of the announcer to say Patterson and Ali were the most notable Olympic champs when Frazier was the most recent, and won his gold in the heavyweight decision, unlike either of the above.

I didn't realise they had vest-less Amateur fights back then, it looks almost like a glorified sparring sesh. Thanks for the video.

@fagiu Back then fighters rarely got disqualified or even warned. I'm wondering when the points deduction system came into effect because I have seen fights (like Ali-Frazier 2 ) where there was soo much holding you had to wonder why the ref didn't do anything.

@sportshistorybuff he actually played it pretty cool against norton

Six years later George was still swinging at his opponents as they went down, Ken Norton and Jose Roman. Maybe it was hard to unlearn the street fighting style of Houston's Fifth Ward.

thank you
I don't know why Foreman was allowed to push so much. I think pushing is technically wrestling... I supposed it's allowed if the opponent is going in for the clinch but it's a decent tactic to keep the other guy within your reach and deprive the more compact fighter range.

You're right, pushing is illegal, but I've never seen a fighter disqualified for that. It's perceived as a minor infraction
