My point is not to beat up on those truly waylaid by their circumstances but; it is to point out that the majority of ppl "down on their luck" out there really could improve themselves if they wanted to! Sometimes you have to work crappy job, hours, etc to get from point A to point B. I found a way to put myself through college and as tempting as it was at times to say "woe is me" I just kept pushing.

Well knucklez2 I must admit I think you have a pt in many cases. However, there are also many "white ppl" like myself not born into privilege - broken home, mom left at 12, father disowned me at 20, no relationship with him in over 20 yr and somehow I found a way to make myself better. Today - Bach and master's and have been working as a professional for over 14 yr now - could it be, maybe that since I wasn't going to be pulled down by my circumstances I was still able to make it work?
