http://www.ted.com Designer Emily Pilloton moved to rural Bertie County, in North Carolina, to engage in a bold experiment of design-led community transformation. She's teaching a design-build class called Studio H that engages high schoolers' minds and bodies while bringing smart design and new opportunities to the poorest county in the state.

TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate. • A good series of talks lately.

I hope TED can keep up this momentum.

  • @Aresftfun all she did was pick a phrase she felt was unoffensive. comments like this only distract people from the message of the lecture.

  • Hi. I saw your video cool video.

  • This is real design. It's strange, because most of us imagined being able to work like this normally. A key things is designing the conditions within which change can be possible and motivated. That's really the whole thing right there. Too often change doesn't happen because there are too many vested interests in the status quo.

  • Looking forward to watch more shows from TED. I really learned a lot from every videos they made. Thank you and more power!

  • i'd definitely have sex with this girl

  • @6:20 notice how close this is to another acronym you know? That wasn't by chance.

  • @theprofits13 It's a pet peeve.

  • @Aresftfun So how should she describe them? and out of the whole talk this is the important part you noticed? smh.
