@UptownRed He really is quite wonderful. I had the same reaction, i.e. that he could get his big voice around this. I love Samuel Ramey's version too. It's on YouTube as well.

This is a HARD aria and I'm quite impressed with his ability to get his big voice around it, even if the last couple runs are a bit less than ideal. Those are Es those last runs are starting on.
No small task for a real bass.
