This is an improved version but I had to record the video in sections in order to get it onto my computer. Comment and enjoy.

  • doesnt anybody GET that the definition of a rhapsody is that it is a FREE STYLED instrumental piece characterise by its dramatic changes in moods. So he can do whatever the f*&k he wants wit his timing! leave him alone, he is amazing!

  • @mantywinehouse

    Thanks! I appreciate it.

You can find the sheets if you search "IMSLP rhapsody in blue" in Google or something.

And if you can, check out my composition "A Dream (Composition, Updated, HD)" and let me know what you think.

  • @ikemaster9 all i can say is oh. my. god. there are no words to describe how beautifully you played that! and you wrote it YOURSELF???? O.O HOW? did you train in composition or something? Even so that is beyond anything i have every heard from any pianist of this decade. and i say that with extreme CERTAINTY. is it based on serialism?

  • @mantywinehouse

It's actually not my final version. I never wrote down the piece and now it's time apply for college so I've been working on writing it all down. In the process, I've added and changed some things. It's about 5 minutes long now. I hope what I've added is actually beneficial :p I'm really glad you like it! I haven't had any compositional training. I just started writing things a couple years ago and now I actually write more than I learn repertoire.

  • @mantywinehouse

And no, it's not based on serialism. I think I'm most influenced by romantic and impressionistic music - chopin, rachmaninov, debussy, ravel, etc.

  • @ikemaster9 are you seriously only starting to apply for college now? oh my god im in WAY over my head. we must be like the same age and i am nowhere NEAR that good.... Yeah that era is definetely the best. and dont forget gershwin! :P

please upload the video with your changes made to it? when i was listening to it the only fault it had was that it wasnt long enough! :)

  • @mantywinehouse

hah, yeah, what're you, 16-17? and yeah i actually have a somewhat jazzy composition, appropriately titled "jazzy composition" :p it's in my videos here. and yeah I'll probably post a video when i've made the final version of the other piece

  • wow... incredible... :'D

  • :O holy shit

  • Can't believe that a human being is actually able to play this... Gershwin is fantastic, and you're doing a good joob playing the Rhapsody in blue :)

  • @E36punk exactly! I think there's no point in covering a song/piece if your aim is just for it to be exactly the same as the original. :D

  • @mantywinehouse

word. Half the beauty in playing music lies in how you interpret and adapt something.

  • Well done! For those of use who have tried to play this ourselves, missing those tough sections is well understood. Touche!
