Mexico's struggle against drug gangs is made more difficult by the ease with which powerful weapons can be bought in the United States and smuggled over the border. It is almost impossible to legally purchase a gun in Mexico-- there are no gun stores, the licensing procedures are very strict, and penalties for illegal possession are harsh-- yet, ironically, the country is awash in powerful firearms, with a thriving underground trade in every city. Al Jazeera's senior Washington correspondent Rob Reynolds discovers how easy it is to buy a gun in Mexico- and the toll gun-related violence is taking on Mexican society.

  • Like the drug cartels are going to pay $1,000 for a semi auto when they can get a full auto for a fraction of that cost. They clearly have things not even avaliable in the US so it's clear they have that connection going. Those guys only care about money. There is no way they would pay US prices when they have connections with international dealers. Maybe a few Mexican citizens, without cartel connections, are getting US guns for protection but they are not the probem.

  • Im mexican n i know all this is b.s. Cartels get their guns from the mexican gov. because they have connections. That's why the government is so corrupt. That's why the mexican government blames the u.s. for its problems. because they're embarassed. I have pride in both countries but the mexican gov. is fuckin crooked

  • This report is only a well-constructed lie for all viewers, just google for "ATF-gunrunner-scandal" and you will know the truth!!!

  • 3:08 Access to our firearms data? Exactly what do they want? Names? Addresses? How many guns we own? Fuck'em!

3:20 Is that a 10mm pistol? Because many magnum calibers and almost all rifle calibers can "punch through body armor". This is nothing new.

To call them "cop killers" demonstrates what is wrong with anti-gunners. They too often rely on fear and emotionalism.

  • @savage495 but thats what im saying... people think its all new shit, really a lot of the issues that are going on today are a result of bad decisions of the past.. i guess that isn't so hard to see, but it seems that it is difficult for people to understand.

  • @realbeereels well there not geting any full-auto guns in the US, and the mexican army just happens to have many surplus weapons (thanks to Clinton).

  • @savage495 thank you! Some people ^^^ don't remember the stupid shit people have allowed in the past... why would they go farther away internationally when the US is so close and the 2nd amendment allows even me to buy a gun... please.

  • They do not understand Mexico or the Narcos, but that is not their goal

  • Ironically the ATF lets hundreds of guns "walk" to Mexico. And , Clinton sent thousands of military weapons to the Mexican army (M4s, m16s, m2s, m107s).

This video reeks of propaganda and misinformation.

  • 1:25 is an outright LIE..a lie told by a useful idiot who thinks he's telling the truth so the message sounds better to the drones who believe this without question

these people would have you believe that drug dealers are getting automatic rifles from the U.S. at $5000 a pop instead of $500 a piece off a ship from pakistan or china

lets not even get into how difficult it is to get your hands on just ONE full auto rifle here in the U.S. to go and sell

  • @bnjnbvchjh no shit hes mexican but its pasable so stop bitchin

  • @atena0159

I'm no eco hippie by any means in fact I'm more of the aerospace engineering type.

But I must say hemp is a remarkably versatile plant and it's cultivation being illegal in the US is a crime against both humanity and nature.

It not only can make paper it also can be blended with cotton to make a superior fabric,is a great source of biodiesel that outperforms soy,and it can even be used to make a material similar to OSB for construction.
