@paully1969 The song is about making the most of your time, I don't know what you're reading for it. The point is the cost of spending 10 years learning guitar or ten years watching TV is the same, but the payoff is very different...

it is a very thoughtful and well written song... however, if we all did that where art, music, poetry, anger, change etc.? then we'd all have missed out on a lot of positives
