One part music video, one part love letter to my home town of Anchorage Alaska.

Director's Note:
This video was the result of two separate projects. The Sunny footage was shot in the Fall of 2010 for an aborted video for "Ya Burnt". The Snowy footage was shot one evening in November when I was distracted by the weather and didn't feel like working. I felt the song had two strong and separate emotions that stood in stark contrast to each other, not unlike the Fall and Winter seasons. This video was never really planned, it's just an idea that came to me when I realized I had all this footage lying around. The title of the song was pulled from an Anchorage Daily News headline, it was still a coincidence that this video would also become a love letter to my home town. Like most Starship Amazing songs, there really is no connection between the title and the song. If there's a deeper meaning here, that is for you to decide. I've always just loved how the sun shines through the trees and how snow looks as it falls past street lights.

  • Coming to Canada for college from Hawaii, this video really rekindled that feeling I got the first time there was a heavy snowfall at night, the massive amount of flakes falling in front of light sources, and all the benches, buildings, and everything else had a thick blanket of snow over it, it was like nothing I've ever experienced before, literally. I really miss it. No one here gets it; winter is annual for them. Just saying that this video made me feel something really special.

  • @marscaleb Don't diss snow. Ever.

  • This is my favorite track from you guys so far. This song and video has helped me get up in the mornings ever since my car accident in June. Keep making music you two. There is no sound out there like this. I plan on buying your albums soon. Great work.

  • I've lived in California my whole life, man it would be cool to go somewhere like Alaska.

  • You had some crazy weather that day. Sunny at first in the morning, then a blizzard hit. The snow completely melted away, and you went to the playground while it was warm in the afternoon. Then another blizzard came. Luckily the sun came out and melted it all away just in time to ride off into the sunset among the a green tree lined street! Good night.

  • Looks like a cool place, but then I remember how much of a pain heavy snow is to shovel or drive in. Cool track though.

  • I don't know why but every time I watch this video, a smile grows on my face. Whether its at 1:00 in the morning after a long day, or after a tough situation that made me pissed, this song never disappoints. As always, great work Derek ;)

  • Cool video but what the fucks up with all the playground and kids toys shots...that's creepy

  • One of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen. I can't really explain why :']

  • OMG HES AT MY SCHOOL!!!!
