  • You Tree-hugging pretentious freaks drive me CRAZY! If you look up here on youtube "F-111 Belly landing", you will see the same JET! His Landing gear FAILED. You dump, burn your reserves so you don't die!!!!! He made a perfect landing with no gear. If he crashed, the environmental damage would be FAR worse. He should receive a freakin' medal! He could have bailed like a hippy coward, but he rode that broken bird all the way down. Quit wakin to your AL Gore pictures and STFU!!!!!

  • Sorry dude, this was an airshow. The plane took off from Christchurch airport, flew around over Wanaka for the show, then flew back to Christchurch. No belly landing, the dump and burn was all for the show.

  • nek minute ... crashes and burns

  • Here comes the worlds largest zippo lighter, lol.

  • @Kurio71 Nope, RAAF F-111 prior to their retirement. The RNZAF never operated the F-111 and indeed currently do not operate any combat aircraft.

  • NZ Air Force F-111?

  • IT'S SCARY!

  • @outofideas101 Not correct. if you ever had the honour of getting up and personal with one of these things, the f111 had a MASSIVE dump valve right between the engine nozzles. The fuel dumps at a rate of a 44 gal drum a sec and can be ignited by the afterburner flame. It was discovered quite by accident. The F18 however has the dump outlets at the top of the tailfins. If you look closely, you can see a small rectangular outlet. So there wont be any burn there.

  • @bentpreacher Couldn't of said it any better ^5.

  • @xero993 Thats totally different from what an f 111 pilot told me at an airshow.

  • @outofideas101 The F-111 does not have a fuel dump ignition system, it is simply the fact that the dump nozzle is positioned between the nozzles that causes the fuel to ignite (the hot gases from the engines and flames from the afterburners ignite the fuel as it spreads out behind the aircraft.)

  • I would think it would not be very hard to make an f 18 to be able to do a dump and burn. all planes can dump fuel, it is just that the f 111 have an elotronic ignighter at the back of the plane.
