The Explorer II Off-Road Handcycle provides unparalleled opportunities for people with disabilities, to get up close and personal with places that until now, you have only been able to see in postcards. Places like mountains, trails and the beach are no longer inaccessible. The Explorer Off-Road Handcycle will take you there and to the top. This unique off-road handcycle has already taken many users to the highest peaks of Europe, including the Alps and the Tatra Mountains. The Explorer also took part of a successful climbing expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro - the highest peak of Africa.

  • Nice bike and concept for those who are paraplegic or not if for something more challenging. The low gear ration looks like it works well for the inclines but would be terrible on flat terrain. Are these single speeds?

  • @castuckey Very good question! finally :)

So, Explorer II is equipped with Schlumpf Mountain-Drive - cranks with internal reduction gear. Cranks works in two positions: 1:1 or reduced to 2.5:1 . Thanks it, gears can be extremly low whenever you need or normal when you want to go faster. Except the Schlumpf M-D, every bike can be equipped with hubs with internal gearing system (8 or 11 gears) or 9 spd darelieur.

  • The best choice are hubs with internal gears , mostly because every gear (in schlumpf or hub) can be switched even when the bike is stationary or under load. Unfortunatelly , I cannot put a link to our graphs but please look on our website, you will see that gears range is similiar as in MTB bikes and in addition can be extremly low when needed.

  • is this for people who cant walk?

  • @cerroteampv YES
