watch high quality. 97 jeep zj with cat back. leave comments please. need advice on whether to take the cat off or not. if so what do you recommend so that it doesn't throw cel's. thx for watching.

  • with that set up, you'd be best to leave the stock cat in for tourque, and if u remove the cat u can damage your exhaust valves,trust me....if u wanna throw a highflow cat in, put a 2.25 tailpipe or stock tailpipe on it,then you'll really be a rock star

  • @negrodamus1000 yea im not going to mess with the cat. too much ecu confusion. tight now i already have 2.25. thats what comes with the cat back. i might put a glasspack on however because to me, its not loud enough.

  • lol I havnt gotten to that... I would like too but I gotta figure out how. I've seen people fool the ecu with resisters but that was with the cat still on... I might just do spark plug non faulers and gut out cat

  • the cat back i didnt notice much mpg boost at all just a hp and torque boost which was nice, the cai gave me a 1-2 mpg boost. not much but im sure you could pull more with new plugs and rotor and cap. i drive mine hard though so i was happy with the 1 mpg up. im getting 16.8 mpg right now.,

  • i've got a 96 zj with a 4.0 and i am running 2.5" pipes no cat and flowmaster super 44's and mine is fine. feels the same as it did with cats on

  • @timinator824 There is a computer chip you can buy that overwrites the CEL, but dont let them see it when u go for inspection :p

  • @negrodamus1000 I hollowed out my Cat', Now i dont drive it on the road too much, but lets just say with and intake, holloed cat, cherry bomb muffler, all in a 95' yj, hard doors,5spd, hard top' I burried the speedo on the higway beating a 95' eclipse. Then messing around i raced and integra with a JDM gsr, and i pulled on it 2 lengths by 50mph.

    I have to say, It may be bad for it, but I had it for years like that, the only thign that finally broke was the T-case. It msta gave it atleast 40hp

  • is that a lid of some sort or the air intake?

  • @jeepfool007 dont put spark plug non foulers on, they reduce hp by like 5-10 per cylinder and the fuel isnt burnt right

  • and if i do not start moving by that time , it jumps up very quickly , so what i do is just turn the motor off once it reaches 190 un-tell its time to go :) , and as soon as i start moving it falls back to 150 , guess thats how poor boys do it hehe , also i would advise NOT to run your vehicle in this manner unless you know what your doing ......

  • @ryanpm92 you know i was thinking , i had taken off my clutch fan , to replace the water pump , and never put the fan back on , i cant see how that would make such a difference , but , i also noticed a huge power gain as-well .. yes im running it with out a fan , the idea was to install an electic fan , just never have since it doesn't get hot " no thermostat " it runs about 150 , it will sit at a red light , but if i have to sit too long yes it gets up to the normal running temp , 190 - 220 ..

  • @ryanpm92 idk bro , thats just what the thingie says up on the roof console , when im driving it easy , but if i get into the gas it drops down to like 6mpg , and now thats the real time mpg , though i can get it to 32 real time , but yes the average mpg is 26 hwy travailing
