@radicalsquared Makhmalbaf is wearing a hidden microphone, and it crapped out a few times during this scene. I'm assuming that Kiarostami kept the scene in because this is a completely spontaneous moment, and couldn't be "acted" out. It still works, despite the questionable audio.

The man was imprisoned for having impersonated Makhmalbaf, pretending to want to work on a movie w/t the family at the end of the movie. Makhmalbaf picks him up after he gets out of jail & they go visit the deceived person & her family. Although an imposter of sorts, the young man was a pretty interesting and introspective character. The scene you just watched was not "acted out"--completely real. Other episodes of the "deception" were acted out by the very persons originally involved.

why is this film so sad?? why was that man crying? what for? the film has a fantastic dialog in a sad soul and in a sad voice. what is Man but a sad creature
