  • If you knew anything about Glen Hansard or the Frames and their relationship to the Daniel you'd get it. Don't pre-judge you muppet.

  • I agree with Jules. Glen has been an admirerer of Daniel Johnson for a long time now. In fact he invited Daniel as a guest singer when he and mar were recently invited to be on Austin City Limits (PBS) last month. One can be respectful and yet still have yet still be open to moments of spontaneous fun. On this particular night, he is and was.

  • @art198007 what would their relationship have anything to do with this? even if they did have a close relationship Glen should know better than to take a song so serious and emotional into a childs song.

  • Daniel put so much emotion into his song. he was going through bad shit he was schizophrenic and was addicted to drugs. just watching this makes me upset that he's turning something that should communicate daniels emotions into some sort of silly sing along.

  • Glen sang this on Saturday night while fixing his guitar string, and ended with calling Portland a Devil town. if you know what happened at their concert in Portland then you know why he said it.

  • Omg, this would've been the best concert to go to EVER!

  • don't get the haunting feeling as you do from daniel

  • I don't know...everything about this performance just feels too fucking COSY. Hey, we're singing Devil Town...isn't this hilarious?

Err...no, it isn't. It's a song written by a man tortured to the point of insanity by his obsession with evil. Maybe they're being ironic - hell, even Daniel himself does it as a sing-along live - but somehow, I think that's a stretch.

Still, leaving the song aside, getting an audience to wander out of the building clicking their fingers was a neat trick.

  • thank you so much posting this....i never had the chance to see him do that in my country..thanks..

  • at what point did he turn it into a joke? all he did was sing a version of a daniel johnston song. To me that says respect if anything.
