This 7 minute video is a synopsis of the documentary "Yamuna Gently Weeps". It is the story of the demolition of the Yumana Pushta community in New Delhi, India, in early 2004. 40,000 homes were destroyed, displacing 120,000 people. Also destroyed were schools, businesses, and social service organizations which served the poor.

If this clip makes you cry, and it should, consider volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. This not-for-profit NGO builds houses in partnership with families in poverty. Their Delhi programme assists families who have been displaced by the destruction of the Yamuna Pushta slum.

Fantastic Video. It is heartbreaking to watch. The most basic of Human Rights is the right to shelter. Bulldozing the homes of the poor is not a solution to poverty. Progress is not progress until it includes all members of society. Thankyou for making such an important film and giving a voice to the people of the Basti.

It seems that such mindless destructions are carried out to please a few selfish persons who are ill-motivated.Such misactions are certainly not aimed to help people of India.A bitter tasting rather poisoning form of democracy, isn't it ?

I think no one could have made such a wonderful documentary on the stark realities which we generally give a blind eye. Ruzbeh should be supported on this cause. All the best to his documentary's entry in to the Berlin film festival.
