It's raining here in Southern California, so what am I doing late at night? I'm in the middle of a tracking session recording CLOUDBURST, that's what! Here you can see me working on page 7 (raíces, tronco, ramas, astros) of Eric Whitacre's masterpiece, and I'm in the middle of doing the Tenor II and Tenor I parts.

I'm controlling Logic Pro 9 on the iMac with a Bluetooth keyboard (off-screen). The audio on this film is coming from the computer's internal microphone, and NOT the ones in front of me.

Each vocal part has three layers, for a total of 24 tracks. During the climax on page 12, I will need at least 6 more tracks to fill in the extra parts on each voice.

My goal is to have this work completed by New Year's Eve to be included in a demo CD.

I'm recording from two microphones at once: the AKG Perception 120 (upside down) is a large diaphragm condenser mic that has a bright sound with lots of presence, while the Samson VR-88, a ribbon microphone, has a softer, warmer sound and picks up a lot more of the lower registers.
