http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/UTP-CAT5-Balun-p/balun-pv5fm.htm - In this CCTV Camera Pros demonstrates how to connect the PV5FM CAT-5 video and power balun to a CCTV camera, surveillance DVR, and power source. The Balun-PV5FM is also known as a UTP balun because it does not necessarily have to be used with CAT5 cable, although that is the most popular cable type to use. For more information on video baluns, please visit CCTV Camera Pros website.
How many feet of cable can I run with this setup? I was thinking of using phone wire for the power making the 4 conductors into 2 and just using the cat 5 for the video.

why cant you just connect the power direct to the cat 5 and use a standard balun ?

is the quality of the video using the video balun with the RJ-45 cable better or the same compared to the normal coaxial cable?
