@TroddinSod Does repentance avail nothing? Does having your sins washed away in baptism avail nothing? Does receiving the Holy Ghost where there is EVIDENCE avail nothing? You should not presume to know all of the acts of God which avail MUCH. There is much that God does that avails! Repentance is God's work, not man's. Water baptism is God's work when it is done as the answering of a good conscience to God. Receiving the Holy Ghost is God's work when it is REAL, signs following.

If you were standing there with these first Gentile believers in Jesus, would you be the one to shout, "Don't baptize them in water! No, we don't want them baptized, so we ain't giving you no stinking water! That's meaningless!" Or would you say, "No, we don't forbid water, so baptize them!"

@TroddinSod May God forgive you for teaching men NOT to do what he has commanded. The Lord Himself commanded us, "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." Baptism is "for the remission of sins. "Repentance AND remission of sins should be preached in his name" (Matt 28, Lk 24).

@TroddinSod You who are expert in ADDING WORDS TO SCRIPTURE tell me! You think the apostle thought nothing was needed for these new Gentile believers after they received the Holy Ghost? Where'd you get that idea, from Sears? Really! You're making things up. He COMMANDED THEY BE baptized AFTER they had received the Holy Ghost. He wasn't repeating himself like U. He was telling them that water would be needed now so these people could OBEY the command. Them's the facts, hoss. Deal with it.

@TroddinSod You DO NOT know in what manner the eunuch was baptized, since it wasn't mentioned. Once again you're putting words in someone's mouth. Let him speak. You be silent where he is silent. John no where says "You're not going to be baptized in water." Quit lying for your theology. You twist scripture. Water baptism is NOT for cleaning the filthiness of the flesh. It's not taking a bath! If that's what you think it is, your sins won't be washed away. Why so afraid of water?

@jhall38 You hermeneutic is from silence sir.The Eunuch was NOT baptized in Jesus' Name which indicates it wasn't the same & was gentile conversion baptism required of a Gentile to Judaism - we was worshiping in Jerusalem & had the Scriptures on him. The baptism of Christ, as John the Baptist said would be with the Holy Spirit & Fire, NOT WATER. Peter in 1Peter 3:21 "NOT the removal of filth from the flesh" = NO water.Don't let traditions of men spoil your 'immersion' in the Character of Christ.
