@JamesJimmaHarding The Warden had him murdered because if Andy was freed using Tommy's knowledge, his financial fraud would have been revealed...though of course it was in the end anyway.

The Warden killed Tommy so Andy couldn't be freed from the prison, because the Warden was afraid that Andy would tell the press that the Warden was embezzling money and killing prisoners.

Im not sure, but i THINK it was because he flipped out in the prison school....Remember? "Goddamn cats crawlin' up trees....5 x 5 is 25....FUCK THIS PLACE!!!!.....FUCK IT!!!!".
Poor Tommy :-(. That Byron Hadley guy who shot him was a complete jerk anyway!
