"Walking Across the Atlantic" by Billy Collins

Here is my 3-year-old reciting the poem "Walking Across the Atlantic" to his dolphin.

The text:

Walking Across the Atlantic

I wait for the holiday crowd to clear the beach
before stepping onto the first wave.

Soon I am walking across the Atlantic
thinking about Spain,
checking for whales, waterspouts.
I feel the water holding up my shifting weight.
Tonight I will sleep on its rocking surface.

But for now I try to imagine what
this must look like to the fish below,
the bottoms of my feet appearing, disappearing.

All I can say is WOW! What a joy & Mom, I love the way you respond to him. You don't tell him he is sooooo smart. Instead, you let him know how much joy he is giving you by sharing his love of poetry. Please let him know that he gives all of us joy too!

Sometime we say amazing too often, but it is amazing a 3 year old is capable of reciting such poems.
