A video demonstrating my modified GirlTech Digi Makeover toy, hacked into being a incredibly screwed-up looking camera suitable for video art, glitch art, music videos, etc.
I bought the toy for $4 at a local Goodwill store-- a battery operated toy with a camera is hard to come by so I was intrigued and wanted to mess with it.
I completely fried the camera-- it can no longer ever output 'normal' video--
but found bends that made the camera work again with strange side effects:
-Strange color schemes
-Chrome-like effects on lit surfaces
-Allowing you to remove all sprites from the screen and use the device as a full-screen camera
added parts were just two switches and a knob (there wasn't space to add anything more.)
One switch toggles between the two color schemes, the knob can dial between them, and the other switch toggles the really glitchy mode on and off.
When you're blending the two you get some really awesome effects. The chrome looks fantastic. Not bad for four bucks.
