Cooking in Jamaica don't really follow gender roles , if you want to eat you cook , i remember growing up it was always a special event when my step father would cook beacuse he'd make the biggest dumplins ,lol

The majority of Jamaicans are taught how to cook. In my home growing up, both my Mum and Dad cooked and equally so the boys and the girls.
Jamaican men also darn and repair their own clothes as well as wash and clean. It is also not unusual to see a father plaiting and combing his daughters hair before she's sent off to school.

because we have a mindset about food and that is ' put strenght in our back' we take care of our bodies and until we get married we will cook everything for ourselves.
