Controversy surrounding DU-usage - While conducting research on the use of illegal/questionable weaponry used in Iraq (DU, WP, etc.), came across the following documentary on DU usage throughout Iraq and then Kosovo. Considering its continued use in today's Iraq war, the content should be considered highly relevant.

Depleted uranium weaponry is illegal under all international treaties, conventions and agreements, as well as under the US military law. Has been since its inception.

Can you provide specific paragraphs in international treaties and US military law? Because I know of no treaties which ban ammunition which uses DU cores or bans WP.

UN resolution written in 1996 - "all States to be guided in their national policies by the need to curb production and spread of weapons of mass destruction or with indiscriminate effect, in particular nuclear weapons, chemical weapons, fuel-air bombs, napalm, cluster bombs, biological weaponry, and weaponry containing depleted uranium."

In addition, the UNCHR (UN Commission on Human Rights) passed a resolution categorizing DU ammo alongside nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons as "weapon of indiscriminate effect."

The US military field manual on The Law of Land Warfare: "It is especially forbidden to employ arms, projectiles, or material calculated to cause unnecessary suffering." (HR, art. 23, par. (e).)

I have been trying to look at the construction of the projectile very closely...I cannot tell whether it is steel incased or actually machined DU.

Years ago before high power radio transistors existed, special metallic vacuum tubes were created that dissipated heat into metal 'heat sinks' using blocks of berrylium oxide that did not conduct electricity (instead of forced air.) Warning was a scratch/inhallation of dust could be lethal.

They are DU rounds; there are issues revolving around soldiers sitting on ammo boxes inside of Bradleys who have developed cancer in the their groin and lower abdominal areas. Have you watched this entire series?

Where did I mention that we didn't use DU ammunition? We use M829A2 and A3 which are DU rounds (but used against tanks).

Also I would assume the Brad's 25mm KE rounds are also DU. That or it is tungsten which is as bad as DU (and is something that all states use for KE ammunition as regards toxicity).

I believe the subject on this post is DU Depleted Uranium, the u.s effectivly annexed land by proxy as recently as the 50's by sending cia into iran to overthro the Govt that nationalised lots of land that had been formerly annexed & reguards DU Dont 4get the furure generations also that are stillborn & severly deformed.
