@kempobrad "i doubt the guy will stand there and let you crack him with your bolo 4 or 5 times"
Of course the guy will try to do something. What you see here is a principle, not a technique really.
What is being trained here is that you don't just do one attack and that's it. This is what I saw very often with students of Shotokan Karate. Instead you try to, as soon as you get the chance to, strike with a series of attacks. Quantity can be of vital importance in such a situation.

@ kempobrad... dude, just the first counter hit that the defender did will already crack the guys head.. no need for 5.. they are drills but it teaches you to react quick so in real fights.. u might use simpler moves.. but damn.. someone trained will always eat someone that isnt!!

I know! I noticed that too. He even used the same words and phrases to explain the moves step by step. It's like watching and hearing GM Diony as a white guy.

if the techniques were used in a tournament it would be different. but for defense the attacker wouldn't know what hit him. and the beauty of eskrima techniques that the same skills can be applied empty handed.
darn u please use a machete!!!

your breath is your energy...when you run a mile you get tired and are conveniently...out of breath. or when you get hit in the solar plexus you are weak and cant do shit...cuz ur out of breath. proper breathing ensures you have a reserve of energy. but you release it in small bursts with your strikes. boxers to it too. its a grunt or yell or "ush" cuz you have to "compress" the air/energy or you'll just waste it all at once.
