Shark eats Wahoo in Antigua Deep Sea Fishing Blitz

Whilst gamefishing on their December vacation in Antigua - the Taylor family from Ontario, Canada enjoy some deep sea, sport fishing action organised by Captain Nick Williams of ReefView Antigua - during Antigua's year end wahoo run....

Trolling islander tipped ballyhoo along the drop off South West of Antigua along with ReefView's Captain Nick aboard a 31ft Bertram 'Vitamin B' - skillfully skippered by Captain Mike Piggott out of West Coast Jolly Harbour.

After two barracuda slashed at baits as we went over the ledge, Sean landed his first ever wahoo, and the first wahoo of the day - a 25 pounder!! Jimmy - conserving his energy - one minute was asleep and the next second in the chair fighting a fish before he perhaps even knew he was awake. His next big fish consumed the 'stumpy' line bait in a lavish swirl - only 15ft back way up in the propwash - then headed for the baited wire lines - the day's 'hot' presentation - which were his ondoing. But the biggest wahoo a near 40 pounder fell to dad, Steve, and that ate a naked ballyhoo in the "Way Way Back" position fished from the rod mounted up in the tower. A marathon winding session ensued........

In just 4 hours, they boat a haul of 5 wahoo up to 40lbs as well as a barracuda - and Jimmy fights a 6-7ft shark (which grabs one of the wahoo) up to boatside after 20 minutes of unforgettable back wrenching struggle - before it happily releases itself.
